Recently Maren had her End of the Year Celebration for Preschool. During the program, the kids sang some songs with motions and did other cute things. At the very end, Mrs. Brucker introduced a video that served as our benediction of sorts, and was of the children (3 & 4 year olds) answering questions about God. Maren was the second little one to pop up on the big screen and was answering the question "What do you know about God?"
She said, "He's powerful. (pause) He's not afraid of the bad guys. (pause) He loves us."
Oh, that she can remember these truths planted in her heart forever! :)

A couple weeks ago Shannon Wahls came over to pick up her kiddos, Tyler and Sydney, who are good friends with Whitton and Sylvia, and we struck up a conversation about our adoption. Sydney said she wanted their family to adopt. :) Then, Whitton said, "There's one good thing, and one bad thing about it."
Shannon asked, 'What's the good thing?'
"That I'll have a brother."
'What's the bad thing?'
"That I'll have more kids to take care of."

In April, I went in for to my doctor's office to pick up some forms from my "adoption" physical, needed for our dossier. Beforehand I found the restroom and Maren and I went in there for "a pitstop." Maren is now at an age where I no longer have to take her in with me to the bathroom stall, so she was walking around, when suddenly I see Maren's smiling eyes peering through the slit in the doors. I was about to say, "Maaaaa-ren, stop," when very quietly, almost whispering, she said, "I love you." It just wasn't what I expected, and made me smile a wide smile and give a little laugh. "I love you, too" I said.
