Coming Home

(Again, these photos post in reverse order. Sorry. Annoying.)

Here are a few photos of our trip home, our first time together as a family of six, meeting the grandparents, and first moments at home. Finally home. Well, we're in our third full day back, and we feel many things. Tired. It's somewhat like having a newborn in that there's a completely new person living in your house who requires a great deal of attention...not nearly as much as a newborn, though, really. Ezekiel is very happy and playful most of the time and is eating and sleeping well. He gives everyone kisses and hugs and repeats the words we're trying to teach him. He loves anything with wheels and calls all of them "ma-kee-na," the Amharic word for car. But he is going through extraordinary changes, and he doesn't understand so much (neither do we, for that matter), and it's coming out with some knock-down, drag-out screaming fits. But, even as we get through those, we're all learning...what might have caused that, why he felt 'slighted,' was there something we could do differently for now to help him ease into this transition more easily. While we want to teach him quickly our ways of 'doing family' we also want to have abundant grace- and mercy that flows lavishly, like a rain-filled stream. We're praying that each day Ezekiel will feel a little more at home with us.

Tomorrow I'll try to post some of my favorite photos of Ethiopia- the land, the people, the signs of life. It will be difficult to choose, since we have over 500 photos and video clips...but I'll managae somehow. :) I also want to write on some passages of Scripture that God brought to me one significant morning while there, out of Ezekiel, Isaiah and Psalms. He just brought them to me and they were just met me where I was.

With this photo of Ben and E pushing the luggage cart, some of you from our pre-bloomington past will remember a favorite pic of ours of Ben and Whitton at age two in red moose jammies in this exact pose in the Singapore airort coming home from Indonesia. :D

How special that the grandparents were at the airport with all of you. These pics are treasures. Now, "real life" begins. So praying with you as so many people strive to live together as one unit. Praying for discernment for you and Ben, and love and patience for all of you. Much love--Theresa

Your story is so great! This is just the beginning, not the end. Thanks for the updates and all of the fabulous pictures. I will certainly be praying for your family while you adjust to this new but different time! What a great learning opportunity for all four kids, by the way...
