First days in Ethiopia

Marianne again with some words from Susan....

"Hi there Everyone! Just wanted to check in because we're the only people in the Guesthouse right now(except for a couple staff), and I have free reign to use the lobby computer. We've been here 2 full days now and have just really had a wonderful time. Jet lag got us up last night at 2:30- yes, both of us! Let me back up though. Yesterday we were able to go to the National Museum for a couple hours, and also to Mount Entoto, which had a great view of Addis Ababa. We learned quite a bit about this country that we didn't know. Had our first Ethiopian meal for lunch that day, which was great. I'll describe it another time. Today was a full day of travel.(They did some visiting of the country) We were in the car for 8 hrs total, give or take, but road wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it might be. I was totally overwhelmed at the beauty of the Ethiopian countryside by the end of the day. So many colors, so many hill and mts. I didn't realize how hilly it would be. The people line the roads, walking from one town to the other with firewood strapped to their backs or herding sheep, goats or cows. Donkeys are used, and even some horses, for carrying all sorts of things. We even saw a herd??? of camels!

We're going to the International Church tomorrow(this would have been yesterday) and meeting our friends, the Reedy's parents, Gary and Peggy Ifft. We'll have a pretty low-key day after that, but the other 3 AW families will be coming in in the afternoon and settling in.

Ok, love to you all. Susan "

If plans went well, the Rice's met Ezekiel earlier today, while we were sleeping!!! Continue to keep them in your prayers and look for another update in the next 24 hrs... hopefully there will be a picture!!! Thanks for prayers for Susan... she wanted everyone to know that she hasn't gotten sick... praise the Lord!
